Lauretta van de Merwe was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is the daughter of a Dutch father and a German mother and speaks both languages perfectly. As a child, she had the privilege to travel all over Europe with her father. These family trips shaped her love for culture and art. After finishing High School, she left the Netherlands for France, where she lived in Paris for a year, to learn french, take care of three wonderful children, and to learn the basics of art-history.
She returned to Amsterdam to study acting at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree, she committed to do a Master in Acting at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Switzerland. Ever since she finished her master’s, she has been active as a progressive and politically active actress for theatre and film and played in the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Switzerland and Germany. At the moment she is based in Leipzig, Germany.
